Number 33 on my 40 before 40 list is to read 50+ books each year.
This isn’t an entirely new thing for me as I’m a big reader at heart, but its on the list because I struggled for a few years. I would rarely read for fun as I spend a lot of time reading policies and reports at work, and when I was at home I had absolutely no motivation to pick up and book. That changed in mid-2024 when a friend of mine was given a Kindle and would tell me about everything she was reading. It set off that little spark in my brain, so I trotted off to my local library and the reading bug hit me full force. I bought my own second hand kindle for a whopping £9.50 from Vinted in February 2025 and allowed myself the budget to sign up for Kindle Unlimited if I dedicated an hour of overtime every month to pay for it.
Below are my reading lists from 2024 and 2025. I discovered the Goodreads tracker a little late, so 2024 is a bit bare however you’ll see that 2025 really picked up and I smashed my target. 2026 I’ll try to do a little roundup and review of the books read and link to the post.
