26 / Thirty Four

This part will take some time to complete, as expected. Numbers 1 to 8 are;

• Stand under a waterfall
• Go on a cruise
• See the Northern Lights
• Go to 20 new places in the UK
• Visit 10 new places abroad
• Ride the Eurostar
• Run dramatically through a castle
• Have a picnic in a field of flowers

Some of these may seem frivolous, but the point of the list is just doing things I haven’t done before, and some of those will be for the sheer fun of it.

Stand under a waterfall

Yet to be ticked off the list. I haven’t had the opportunity since starting the list but there’s still 6 years to go. I’m hoping for picturesque, influencer style photos when I’ll probably look like a drowned rat but it’s staying number 1 on the list.

Go on a cruise

Cruises aren’t just for retirees anymore! I have my eye on a few options, and hoping it’ll help me tick off some of the countries I want to see.

See the Northern Lights

This one has been unexpectedly ticked off the list, at midnight on a Friday in May 2024 in plain old England.

Go to 20 new places in the UK

I realised that I haven’t been to nearly enough places in the little island group I call home, so I want to see more of them. So far I’ve managed to tick off Bath, Birmingham, Brighton, Loxwood, Portsmouth and York. Some places I’m considering are;

• The Cotswolds
• Manchester
• Cambridge
• The Isles of Scilly
• Newcastle
• Arundel

Now, I can’t include places I’ve been to before starting the list, so some of the places I can’t include are London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Oxford and Stirling. They have to be places I’ve never set foot in before, and I have to actually spend time sightseeing, so no inclusions of places I pass through en route to another.

Visit 10 new places abroad

Same as my local list. I can’t choose places I’ve been to before. That means I can’t include Amsterdam, Andalucia, Barcelona, Brussels or Paris.

Ride the Eurostar

It’s a train that goes underwater. Need I say more?

Run dramatically through a castle

Frivolous and for fun, but this absolutely includes a pretty dress that I have to pick up and run down a hallway like I’m fleeing a battle or an unworthy suitor.

Have a picnic in a field of flowers

Again, another one for fun but I mean glorious sunshine, cosy blanket, the wicker basket, maybe some chilled wine in a bucket… not a meal deal from a reusable bag on a bench in the drizzle.
